Emotionals Skills for Teenage Girls
A
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group designed to build personal and relationshiop skills for teens
What is DBT?
DBT is a set of skills proven effective in:
1. Changing behavior (actions/responsibility)
2. Regulating emotions
3. Coping with both short term and long term stress
4. Increasing positive relationships with others (and also with yourself)
How does DBT work?
Well, it uses a "cognitive-behavioral"model. That means it teaches thinking skills and how to act and respond in ways that get you what you want. It also builds skills of awarness of one's body signals. It helps you understand that you have some control when it comes to your mind and your body.
Why would I want to come to DBT group?
Because there may be areas in your life where you are not:
1. getting what you want or
2. feeling good about yourself or
3. feeling you can cope
Is this like school? It is called a "class"
We hope not. You have enough class time. We don't want to teach a boring class, it doesn't interest us and it won't interest you. Our goal is to make each group creative, interesting and helpful in your life.
