WORK EXPERIENCE
Freedman & Associates ( July 2006 – present)
Private clinical practice for children, adolescents and families. Special emphasis on eating disorders, anxiety, depression, grief and loss issues. Use of psychodynamic, structural family therapy and cognitive-behavioral interventions. Individual, family and group treatment approach.
St. Joseph’s Hospital (August 2006 – present)
Medical social work providing individualized care to patients and assistance to families as part of a health care team. Responsibilities include assessment, crisis intervention and mental health case management. Focus on mental health issues, chemical dependency, trauma and abuse situations.
Summit Eating Disorders and Outreach Program (July 2003 – July 2006)
Individual, family and group psychotherapy in Intensive Outpatient and Day Treatment Programs for treatment of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder. Intensive training in the treatment of eating disorders with both the adolescent and adult patient through psychodynamic, educational, cognitive therapy and family systems approaches. Extensive experience lecturing on the topics of eating disorders, body image, media fluency and related issues. Developed Binge Eating Program enhancing services to clients struggling with Binge Eating Disorder.
Woodland Community College, Adjunct Faculty Member (September 2004 – Present)
Adjunct Faculty teaching position in the Department of Human Services teaching such courses as Family Systems, Adult Children of Alcoholics, Chemical Dependency Counseling and related courses required for chemical dependency certification.
Shriners Hospital for Children, Department of Orthopaedics, Grant Project Manager (March 2001-December 2004)
Responsible for management of ten-site project entitled “Clinical Outcomes Assessment of Children with Unilateral Congenital Below Elbow Deficiency” (UCBED). Responsible for the coordination of site compliance, Human Subjects Committee approval, knowledge of Federal, local and Institutional clinical research regulatory requirements, training in use of assessment tools, and on-going communication between participants and project staff. Worked closely with study participants and families at the Northern California Hospital. Offered continuing education seminar on “Chronic Sorrow” to hospital professionals.
Yolo Family Service Agency (July 2002 – June 2003)
Clinical outpatient therapy for children, adolescents, families and adults seeking agency services for a broad range of issues. Participated in individual and group supervision as well as a consult group focusing specifically on children from a development and object-relations perspective.
Yolo County Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health (September 2001 – June 2002)
Conducted intake bio-psychosocial assessments for adults seeking services through the county's adult out-patient clinic in Davis, California. Presented intake assessments during weekly regional meeting with agency clinicians in order to assess need and availability of services. Providing therapeutic case management services to adult clients on a weekly basis.
Department of Surgery, UCDMC. Clinical Research Coordinator (December 1997 – March 2001)
Responsible for the coordination of clinical treatment and follow-up care of patients on various treatment and prevention protocols including the Breast Cancer Prevention Trial, Sentinel Lymph Node Registry, Sunbelt Melanoma Trial, Pediatric Oncology Group and various pharmaceutical studies for the Division of Oncology, Transplant and Plastic Surgery. Responsible for ensuring research patients receive appropriate treatment and follow-up care according to study guidelines and protocol requirements.
Department of Psychiatry, UCDMC. Harvard Medical School Twin Study Assessing Vulnerability to Alcoholism. Research Coordinator (September 1996 – December 1997)
Responsible for organization and maintenance of five-year, 800-subject, NIH funded study assessing vulnerability to alcoholism. Managed data base and flow of participants at multiple sites. Maintained study manuals, score sheets, administrative correspondence and subject files. Conducted confidential, day-long, structured diagnostic interviews with neurophysiologicial and psychophysiological assessments. Assured compliance with grant protocols and Human Subjects guidelines.
Department of Psychiatry, UCDMC. Anxiety Research Clinic, Post Graduate Research Assistant (March 1994 – June 1996)
Responsible for initial diagnostic screening of patients for five clinical treatment studies on patients with anxiety disorders. Responsible for program introduction and compliance with various eligibility protocols - which included assessment of severity of anxiety symptoms, level of depression, drug and alcohol use, phobias, medications and medical conditions.
Citizenship and Law Related Education Center, Sacramento, CA. Consultant/Grant Administrator (June 1994 – December 1994)
Coordinated statewide Conflict Resolution and Youth Mediation Training grant funded by the California Department of Education. Responsible for the coordination of ten regional training sessions for 1,000 teachers/administrators from 35 school districts statewide. Acted as liaison between the CLRE Center, school districts, trainers, and facilities.
