Professional and Educational Background

 

Dr. Evan B. Freedman, a Licensed Psychologist, received his Ph.D. and MA in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. He also earned a Masters of Theological Studies from Harvard University. He has been licensed in Washington State since 1999.  Dr Freedman specializes in psychological testing and forensic evaluation of juveniles and adults with special emphasis on parental fitness and custody, civil and criminal capacity as well as risk and threat assessment. 

 

Dr. Freedman has ten years of post-doctoral training and experience in the ethics and delivery of forensic psychological services.  He has special interests in Multicultural issues and Native American culture as well as forensic assessment of those with developmental disabilities.  His evaluations focus on strengths as well as problem areas and emphasize treatment recommendations designed to improve function.  Dr. Freedman has provided expert witness testimony in multiple venues and is comfortable working with both prosecution and defense attorneys.  Dr. Freedman has performed hundreds of evaluations and is a well known resource for forensic assessment among attorneys, school systems, Tribal courts, state and county agencies, correctional facilities and the general public.

 

Dr. Freedman is the founder of Freedman and Associates and has served the mental health needs of children, families and adults for over twenty years.  He has a background working in demanding wilderness environments for organizations such as Outward Bound and in leadership roles including having been the Supervisor of Adult Services at the Whatcom Counseling and Psychiatric Clinic and Assistant Director of a community mental health facility in Portland.
