RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

 

Therapist/Psychometrician-Private practice and Consultation. March 2002-present.  Provide

private therapy to individuals and groups. Primary focus on adolescents and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills groups.  Assist local forensic psychologist by providing psychometric services. Administer psychological and intelligence assessments, write reports. 

 

          Clinician III-Whatcom Counseling and Psychiatric Clinic. September 2001- September 2002.

Provide mental health therapy and case management outpatient services to a chronically/severely mentally ill adult population. Provide services to individuals and families as well as lead multiple groups weekly on topics of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, depression and anxiety, grief and loss and boundaries. 

 

          Mental Health Professional-Okanogan County Counseling Services. June 2000-September 2001.

Provide community mental health outpatient services to an adult population, diagnose and treat a wide range of presenting problems. Provide therapy for individuals, couples, families and groups. Primary experience in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, women’s issues, boundaries, smoking cessation and medically ill individuals.  

 

Internship-Sehome Behavioral Health, 1999-2000 Academic year clinical internship.

700 hours with weekly supervision. Provided therapy regarding a wide range of presenting problems for individuals, groups, couples, and families. Counseled groups and individuals coping with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. Counseled individuals with chemical dependency issues, administered and interpreted psychological assessments, and provided case management.

    

          Rehabilitation Program Coordinator-Mount Baker Kidney Center. July 1998-September 2000.

Created and implemented a rehabilitation program for dialysis patients. Program includes physical, psychological, social, and vocational assessment and problem identification as well as appropriate treatment.

 

          Research Technician-GUR Research Project. June 1997-July 1998.

Conducted focus groups for a committee researching the General University Requirements program efficacy.  The qualitative information was used to create changes in the GUR program at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA.

 

          Clinical Research Technician-Northwest Kidney Center. June 1996-December 1997.

Acted as the primary interviewer and data manager for multi-variable, repeated-measure design rehabilitation study with 200 patients who had End-Stage Renal Disease and were on dialysis treatment. Organized and analyzed physiological and psychological data using SPSS and Excel. Presented information from study at a regional conference.

         

Research Technician-WE CAN 2000. October 1997-October 1998.

Designed and conducted qualitative research program using focus groups for data collection on alcohol culture on a college campus.  Also organized, analyzed and reported on data found during focus groups.  This work was part of a quarter million dollar grant to research alcohol use at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA.

·         Psychology 307 Statistics courses-Winter and Spring 1999. This is an appointed and paid position that provides a tuition waiver and stipend each quarter. Scott Ottaway, Ph.D.

·         Environmental Psychology-Winter 1998. For George Cvetkovich, Ph.D.; This course was a 300 level undergraduate course.

·         Social Psychology-Spring 1998. For George Cvetkovich, Ph.D.; 300 level undergraduate course 

 

          Research Experience:

·         Water quality study-Field data collection for an environmental psychology research project in Coleville, WA funded by the National Forest Service. The purpose was to assess campers’ awareness of the impact of recreational use of the National Forest on water quality.          

·         Health self-care study-Conducted focus groups for issues surrounding health self-care in the 55+ population, with George Cvetkovich, Ph.D.

 

Statistical Experience: Proficient in SPSS data analysis, ANOVA, correlation, multivariate regression analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling.

 

Editing Experience: Edited abstracts for the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology XIVth Congress conference, 1998 program.

 

Awards: Awarded the Dean J. Alan Ross Travel Fund award to travel to Albuquerque, NM for the WPA-RMPA regional conference in the Spring of 1998.

·         Physiology lab-One year of experience under Doug Fitts, Ph.D. Duties included invasive animal surgery, animal care, data collection, analyzation and entry, histological techniques.

·         Stress and Coping Project-One year experience under Dr. Peter Vitaliano. Duties included: analyzing, organizing, coding and statistics for a 500+ variable longitudinal study on Alzheimer Disease caregivers.

Kids Konnected Northwest-Therapist. 2002-present.  Therapist for youth directed youth support group for children ages 7-18 who have a parent with cancer.

 

Kids Council Northwest-President of the Board of Directors. 2003-present. Program to provide grief, loss and transitional counseling, group and support services for children and families experiencing a loss related to death, foster care, and divorce.

 

Grief Support Therapist-Camp Willie. Summer 1999-2004. A summer camp for kids 7-12 who have experienced the death of a loved one.

 

Horticultural Therapist-Sowing Seeds of Hope. Summer 2001. Program director and therapist working with economically disadvantaged women on a Community Supported Agriculture farm.

 

Grief Support Therapist-Lisa’s Kids. Fall 1999. A support group for children who have experienced or are anticipating the death of a loved one.
