Counseling Profile
Professional and Educational Background

Dr. Jennifer M. Gronholt is a Licensed Psychologist in Washington State.  She received her Psy.D. and MA in Clinical Psychology from George Fox University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia.  She completed a pre doctoral internship in clinical psychology and forensic assessment at the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board in Spotsylvania, Virginia.  She has further post-doctoral training in forensic evaluation, pre-employment assessment, and mindfulness.  Dr. Gronholt recently co-facilitated the development and implementation of a state-wide pre-employment psychological assessment unit for the Washington State Department of Corrections.  She has experience working with individuals and groups in a wide variety of settings including rural community mental health clinics, college counseling centers, drug and alcohol treatment centers, and chronic pain and medical clinics.

Dr. Gronholt maintains a general clinical practice with children, adults, and families.  While treatment is uniquely tailored to each client’s situation, she maintains a focus on research-based, cognitive behavioral and solution-focused interventions.  Her approach to therapy places a strong emphasis on a collaborative relationship with each client.  Within this empathic and nonjudgmental environment, Dr. Gronholt and her clients are able to work together to mindfully explore and increase each client's understanding of their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they relate to their life circumstances.  Through this increased positive self-awareness clients are able to better understand old patterns and create transformational and lasting change.  Dr. Gronholt also works with clients interested in the integration of mind, body, and spirit through such tools as meditation and breathwork.

Additionally, Dr. Gronholt provides a range of comprehensive assessment services in the areas of general emotional and cognitive function, forensic evaluation, pre-employment and occupational fitness.
