Professional and Educational Background

 

Cara Anderson is currently a doctoral candidate at the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California where she received a Master of Arts degree in psychology in 2006 and a Master of Arts degree in theology in 2009.  Cara completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in honors psychology with distinction at Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia.  Cara has worked at a community mental health center as well as a school counseling center, where she gained experience working with adults and adolescents in individual and group therapy formats. 

 

Areas of Specialization

 

Cara views the relationship between therapist and client as vital to the therapeutic process.  She maintains that it is through relationship that change occurs; to know oneself and to be fully known and accepted by another can be a transformative experience.  Cara has received training in psychological assessment as well as working with depression, anxiety, illness, end of life issues, grief and loss, spirituality, cultural diversity, identity issues, LGBT clients, family difficulties, relationship problems, trauma, and severe mental illness.

Cara’s hobbies include yoga, Pilates, snowboarding, traveling, cooking (specifically Indian food), scrapbooking, interior design and enjoying time with family.
